Personalizing product discounts for a health & supplement retailer
The Challenge
Top Nutrition was looking to boost sales for certain products, but didn’t want to carve into their margin too much. Blanket discounts didn’t seem like a good fit since they would be giving up too much of their profit. But Promi’s AI discounts were a potential solution since they could offer discounts to only the customers who really needed them.
Promi's Solution
We used Promi's AI model to personalize discounts for each product, taking into account COGS to ensure a minimum remaining margin. The experiment was set up so that 50% of visitor traffic would receive the personalized discount, and the other 50% would receive no discount.
The Results
Promi's personalized discounts generated +51% average revenue per visitor and +39% gross profit per visitor on eligible items vs. the control with no discount. On average, Promi increased the discount given per order by just 2.6%.
The takeaway? Personalization is a powerful lever, and can generate significantly more profit even by offering more discounts.
